In a related study, researchers conducted laboratory studies on the relationship between horn length and reproductive success in Japanese Rhinoceros Beetles. Microcosms were set up containing pairs of male beetles and a single female beetles. The horn length in the male beetles were measured. Both males were added to a microcosm containing a female beetle at the same time and the horn length of the male what was successful in breeding was recorded. Each test was repeated at least 10 times with different pairs of beetles Table 2 summarizes the results of these trials
