For one of my labs we have the products (13.6g) H2SO4, 3g) H3BO3, (7.5g) NH4F, and the product NH4BF4 and we're supposed to make a balanced chemical equation and find the theoretical yield of the product. Whenever I did it I got:
3H2SO4 + H3BO3 + 4NH4F ---------> NH4BF4 + 3HSO4- + 3NH4+
With the limiting reagent being H3BO3 and producting a yield of 4.92g, does this seem correct? My friend in the same course got a different answer.
3H2SO4 + H3BO3 + 4NH4F ---------> NH4BF4 + 3HSO4- + 3NH4+
3 moles of H2SO4 produce 1 mole of NH4BF4
3*98g of H2SO4 produce 104.8g of NH4BF4
13.6g of H2So4 produce = 104.8*13.6/3*98 = 4.84g
so H2SO4 is limiting reactant
1 mole of H3BO3 produce 1 mole of NH4BF4
62g of H3BO3 produce 104.8g of NH4BF4
3g of H3BO3 produce = 104.8*3/62 = 5.07g of NH4BF4
4 moles of NH4F produce 1 moles of NH4BF4
4*37g of NH4F produce 104.8g of NH4BF4
7.5g of NH4F produce = 104.8*7.5/4*37 = 5.31 g of NH4BF4
H2SO4 is limiting reactant

Activity 10 How Much Product Will My Reaction Yield? 37 6. Carly the chemistry student performs an experiment with vinegar (active ingredient acetic acid, CH, COOH) and baking soda (NaHCO). Her professor asks her to place varying amounts of baking soda and vinegar into scalable plastic sandwich bags, quickly seal the bags, and observe the reaction. The balanced chemical equation for the reaction is given here. NaHCO, (aq) + CH,COOH(ag) - CO,(8) + H,O(l) + NaCH COO(ag) a) Use limiting...
I need help with this post lab from Orgo. Anyone please help
me. I have included the procedure from experiment, but let me know
if there is anything to add on this. Thank you
1. Write the overall balanced chemical equation (not the mechanism) for the reaction you carried out in this experiment. Equation must be charge and mass balanced. Use structures not molecular formula. (3 pts) Part A Table 2: Complete this table (15 pts) 2-methyl cyclohexanol cycloalkene Molecular...
Mary Benninger had sought out her old friend, Tom Chu, to discuss her employment situation. Mary and Tom had both graduated in 1985 from Mackenzie King University, and then studied together to attain their CMA designations in 1988. Soon thereafter, Tom was promoted quickly within his division of a large multi-national auto supply company, and now held the position of vice-president/controller. Mary, on the other hand, had temporarily removed herself from full-time employment in 1990 to raise her young daughter....
