Disadvantages of off-site construction ?
Disadvantages of off site construction :
1. Limitations – pre-fabrications may need to be limited in size due to transportation restrictions, maximum road widths, low bridges, weight restrictions etc.
2.Investment dampened – growth in off-site construction has been dampened by high costs, fluctuating demand, concerns over mortgageability and a general lack of acceptance for the new construction method.
3. Inflexible design – due to the modular nature of the construction, the designer’s ability to adopt innovative approaches could be limited. The agreed design needs to be finalised earlier in the construction process and adapting the design may not be possible.
4. Not always a success – despite a number of successful projects, there have been many off-site failures.
You are the project manager's assistant on a construction site. The project manager is off site for the day and you are responsible for the ongoing progress of the site in her absence. Two similar beams are delivered to a construction site. Each beam is a hollow box beam, constructed of A36 structural steel, (E=29.0 x 10ʻpsi, density of 490 1bm/ft), each beam having outside dimensions of 16" base and 18" height, 18 feet long. Beam A has top and...

Question 1 Construction waste is wastes that unused from construction activities, such as pre construction, construction and post construction. All the construction waste was generated by human activities will contribute to the environmental problems. Explain how the solid waste from the construction site is managed based on your work experiences or a story you know. Explain the factors influencing the approach chosen, the solid waste management process, and the advantages and disadvantages of the chosen management approach. You need to...
A construction worker forgot to lock the gate to a construction site where Mr. T enters and begins playing with the giant wrecking ball crane that is on site. He gets the wrecking ball swinging in a circle. If angle of the cord with the vertical is 21°. Circular motion ball on a string a) Find the acceleration of the wrecking ball. b) What how fast is the wrecking ball going if the length of the cord is 27.5 meters.

strategic hr: What are the advantages and disadvantages of on the job, off the job and online training? For what types of training is each approach most appropriate?
Are construction workers at risk of cancer if they work on a job site that is under the main transmission lines for the local electrical power company? They work in these conditions for at least eight hours per day for six months.
A cement truck delivers mixed cement to a large construction site. Let x represent the cycle time in minutes for the truck to leave the construction site, go back to the cement plant, fill up, and return to the construction site with another load of cement. From past experiences, it is known that the mean cycle time is μ = 46 minutes with σ = 9 minutes. The x distribution is approximately normal. What is the probability that the cycle...
