Answer #1

Fatty acid synthesis occurs in the cytoplasm. It mainly takes place in Liver and Adipose tissue.

Oxidation of fatty acid occurs in Mitochondria in Eukaryotes and cytosol in Prokaryotes.

Fatty acid oxidation occurs by sequential removal of two-carbon units from acetyl chain . The acetyl-CoA molecules thus formed enter citric acid cycle to yield ATP. The ATP thus generated are a major source of energy for Heart and skeletal muscle.
