5. a. Pollen grain is the male gametophyte in angiosperms. Pollen grains consist of two cells: a generative cell within a pollen tube cell.

Once the microsporangium is mature, it bursts and releases the pollen from the anther. Pollen grain consists of two layers. The outer thick layer is called exine and inner thin layer is called intine which protects the pollen from damage.

b. The tube cell within the pollen grain forms the pollen tube.

c. The generative cell within the pollen grain divides to form two sperm cells.

6. a. The transfer of pollen grains from the anther of a flower of one species to the stigma of a flower of the same species is called pollination.

b. Pollen can be transferred by animals, wind, earthquakes, and water.
