Answer #1

Enzymes are biocatalyst which increases the rate of biochemical reactions. Hence enzymes are very important in organisms. Main principle of increasing rate of reaction is that every substrate(reactant in chemistry) are started to give products on guving certain amount of energy called Activation energy. Enzymes makes complex with substrate and lower the activation energy to start the reaction at lower energy investment and increases the rate of reaction.

Other factors which affact the activity of enzymes are -

Temprature - The activity of enzyme generally increases with increase in temperature but at very high tempratures enzymes are denatured to decrease enzyme activity.

pH also affacts the activity of enzyme.

Enzymes are very specific about their substrate and acts only on specific substrate molecules.
