Answer #1

Triose-phosphate isomerase (TPI) catalyzes the following reaction.
It mediates the reversible interconversion of DHAP and G-3-P
DHAP <------> G-3-P

It is a major glycolytic enzyme and found in almost all the living organisms.
It is inhibited by several moelcules such as Phosphate, Arsenate, 2-phosphoglycolate, and PEP.

PEP is the downstream product of the glycolytic pathway that exhibits feedback inhibition on TPI.
If PEP levels are elevated, it will inhibit TIP so that the pathway does not produce high levels of PEP.
PEP acts as a competitive inhibitor of TIP i.e. it competes with the substrate for the same active site on the enzyme.
Feedback inhibition ensures that the product formation does not reach elevated levels so that homeostasis can be maintained.
