3. (4 pts). A diploid somatic cell of a hypothetical eukaryote contains two pairs of homologs in its nucleus (2N = 4). One pair of homologs is metacentric and the other pair is submetacentric. The metacentric pair is heterozygous at two gene loci and each locus is on a different arm. At one locus, the alleles are identified by the letters “A” and “a”. At the other locus, the alleles are identified by the letters “B” and “b”. The upper case letter indicates the dominant allele and the lower case indicates the recessive allele at each locus. The dominant alleles of the two gene loci are on one of the metacentric homologs and the recessive alleles are on the other metacentric homolog. The submetacentric homologs are heterozygous for two loci on the long arm. The locus closest to the centromere has alleles symbolized by the letters “E” and “e” while the other locus on the telocentric homologs has alleles represented by the letters “H” and “h” . The dominant alleles of those 2 loci are on one of the telocentric chromosomes while the recessive alleles are on the other homolog.

For the stage of the cell cycle listed below, please draw and label the chromosomes as instructed below and using the allele symbols. Use a vertical line to represent each double-stranded DNA molecule and an open circle, , to indicate the site of the centromere. Clearly label the positions of the centromeres, telomeres, each gene locus and the allele at each gene locus on each chromosome and chromatid. Please do not draw other structures such as the nuclear envelope, spindle fibers etc. Pretend that the chromosomes are sufficiently condensed so that they could be observed as distinct chromosomes. The stage of the cell cycle is: prophase of mitosis (draw the chromosomes that you would expect in one nucleus). Neatly illustrate and label your chromosomes in the box:

question b-f please thank you 12:52 PM Mon Apr 13 78% B06 Draw a diagram to represent the equational division of meiosis for a diploid organism with three heterologous chromosomes. One acrocentric, one metacentric and one telocentric. The diagram should show the chromosomes as you'd expect to see them during metaphase. The organism is trihybrid and heterozygous for dominant and recessive alleles at three different loci. Locus A is on the telocentric chromosome. Locus B is on the metacentric chromosome....

    3) The diploid cells of A. roksiki have a total of 4 chromosomes (2n=4). One of the homologous pairs is large with an acrocentric centromere and the other is small with a metacentric centromere. A. Draw the chromosomes from A. roksiki as they would appear in metaphase 2 of meiosis. Include all cells and all chromosomes. Assume meiosis is proceeding normally and ignore any effects of crossing over. (6 pts) B. A strain of A. roksiki is heterozygous for a...

can someone please help me with this ? Practice Using a Punnett Square. Punnett Squares are tools to identify outcomes known genotypes. They can be used to help infer probabilities of genotypes and from a particular cross. of possible crosses between individuals of phenotypes amongst offspring lele forms "A" and "a". 5. (16 pts.) A cell has two pairs of submetacentric chromosomes, which we wili cail chromosomes I,, Ib, Ila, and Ilb. Submetacentric chromosomes have their centro nere abou midway between the telomere and middle of the chromosome as shown. Chromosomes Ia and I, are homologues and chromosomes II, and Ilb are homologues. Allele R is located on the p arm (short arm) of chromosome of chromosome la, and allele r is located at the same position on chromosome lb. Allele...

    4. In the diploid roundworm Arronax, the Dpy gene, which is on the extreme right end of chromosome I, has two alleles: a dominant wild type allele (D) and a recessive dumpy (short and fat) allele (d). On the extreme left end of chromosome I is the twister gene with a dominant wild type allele (T) and a recessive twisted(corkscrew body) allele (t). Arronax has the curious property that each pair of homologous chromosomes undergoes exactly one recombination event per...

Assortment of genes on same chromosome In the fruit fly Drosophila, there is a dominant gene for normal wings and its recessive allele for vestigial wings. At another gene locus. there is a dominant gene for red eyes and its recessive allele for purple eyes. A female that was heterozygous at both gene loci was mated with a male that is homozygous for both recessive alleles. Knowing this, complete the sentences with the correct terms. 94% crossing over independent assortment...

    2. A diploid cell contains two pairs of chromosomes, which we will call 1 and 2. Assume chromosome! is clearly larger than chromosome 2. Each chromosome pair contains a maternal and a paternal member (e.g. 1 and 1 & 2 and 2"). An allele called G is localized to 1" whereas an allele called g is on chromosome 1P. Allele R is localized to 2m whereas alleler is localized to 2. Using these designations and clearly drawn and labeled chromosomes,...
