How did railways affect industrial expansion? Were early railways used to transport people, products, or both? How did railways affect the steel and iron industries?
One of the most important issues of business was to transport goods in bulk through land because sea routes and larger ships were already facilitating the business. Taking large amount of goods was increasingly becoming difficult at the wake of the industrial revolution as more number of products were produced with the help of the machines. This helped business carry their goods across borders through the land. Railroads helped transport both people and goods thus making businesses vibrant because the movement of goods and people across borders brought new opportunities to the business and people alike. Railways demanded more steel and iron for making trains, railroads and other equipment needed to run the railways. Thus iron and steel industries became one of the most sought after industries during the 19th century because wooden coaches didn’t serve the purpose. The growth of railroad did indeed improve the entire system of transport, government, business and ordinary people.

1. Do you agree that many early industrial technologies were used as ways of controlling labor? What sort of historical research could be done in order to test this proposition? 2. Do employers have a legitimate right to electronically monitor their employees? Would you object to monitoring by your employer? Should federal or state governments pass laws that limit electronic employee monitoring? If so, what would be reasonable limits to this practice? 3. Can you see any indications that consumers...

An industrial psychologist is studying how different types of management styles affect productivity for both younger and older employees. The management styles the psychologist compares are: 1. Authoritative, 2. Collaborative decision making 3. Low impact. An equal number of younger and older employees were supervised using one of these three different management styles for a month and their productivity was measured. A total of 120 people participated in this study, assume each cell had an equal n value. Name each...

Did I do this problem on lineral thermal expansion correctly?
Information was left out of the problem, so I assumed the material
to be steel, as iron was not listed in my book.

In steam distillation, why were the caraway seeds ground up? How did this affect the isolation of the oil
A reaction that produces ammonia is shown below. How does the catalyst used in the industrial production of ammonia affect the reaction rates of the forward and reverse reactions? N2+3H2⇌2NH3 Select the correct answer below: 1. forward rate decreases, reverse rate increases 2. forward rate increases, reverse rate decreases 3. both the forward and reverse rates decrease 4. both the forward and reverse rates increase
Shown below is the formation reaction of ammonia. How does the catalyst used in the industrial production of ammonia affect the activation energies of the forward and reverse reactions? N2+3H2⇌2NH3 A. activation energy decreased for the forward reaction, increased for the reverse reaction B. activation energy increased for the forward reaction, decreased for the reverse reaction C. activation energy decreased both the forward and reverse reactions D. activation energy increased for both the forward and reverse reactions
Early industrial societies used whale oil in oil lamps and for lubricating machines. The composition of oil varied across whale species. For example, sperm whales were targeted because their oil commanded a higher price in the market. Whaling boomed in the 1800s. You can assume that the primary focus of commercial whaling was to recover oil. a. Develop a simple graphical model to describe the growth and decline of whaling in the US over the period 1800 through 1900. b....
