Answer #1

Medicalization is defining of non-medical problems in medical terms, i.e. inclusion of usually normal human behavior and experience as medical condition i.e. an illness or disease, leading to the implication that a medical intervention or treatment is appropriate. This contributes to social work as it enhances the quality of life of people as the therapy is moving out from treating diseases to providing enhancements to what had hitherto been seen as normal functioning (Kohli, 2012).
