Answer #1

Here, both the pressure (P) and temperature are constant. Thus, work done will be,

W = P(V2 - V1)

1 L-atm =  101.325 J

Work, W = 1001 J = 1001 J x (1L-atm/ 101.325 J) = 9.879 L-atm

Initial Volume, V1 = 6.63 L

Final Volume, V2 = ?

Thus, using the expression for work, we have,

9.879L • atm = (1.5latm) (V2 - 6.63L) V2= 13.17L
