Answer #1

The 5' end of the DNA contains -PO42- group or phosphate group. Since all free nucleotides have triphosphate group linked to the 5' carbon.

DNA contains five carbon pentose sugar molecules linked to each other via phosphodiester bond.  1' carbon is attached to the nitrogenous bases via N-glycosidic linkage. 2' carbon in DNA has no hydroxyl group. 3' carbon contains a hydroxyl group (-OH). 5' carbon is linked to a phosphate group.

The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a molecule that contains the genetic instructions required for the development and functioning of all known living organisms. The basic double-helix structure of the DNA was co-discovered by Prof. Francis Crick, a long-time faculty member at UCSD 0 The DNA molecule consists of a long sequence of four nucleotide bases: adenine (A), cytosine (C), gua- nine (G) and thymine (T). Since this molecule contains all the genetic information of a living organism, geneticists are interested...

Question 1 1 pts Why is it important for DNA to have complementary base pairing? O Complementary base pairing allows base pairs to be packed in the most energetically favorable arrangement inside of the double helix structure. O Complementary base pairing will pair a purine with a purine, which are a similar width, thus they are able to hold the sugar-phosphate backbone an equal distance apart along the DNA molecule o Complementary base pairing is only important for maintaining the...
