Based on First Come First Served, we get the sequence as A-B-C-D-E

We find the Average flow time and Average days past due based on FCFS as shown below:

Processing Time 10 FCFS Job sequence А B с D E 8 4 Cumulative task time Days due Days late 10 22 0 18 13 5 22 19 3 26 16 10 2

Based on the Earliest due date, we get the sequence as B-D-C-A-E

We find the Average flow time and Average days past due based on EDD as shown below:

FCFS Job sequence B D C A E Processing Time Cumulative task time Days due Days late 8 8 13 0 4 12 16 0 4 16 19 0 10 26 22 4 3

As seen from above, the earliest due date sequence gives the best schedule as both Average flow time and Average days due are less as compared to FCFS sequence.
