Let us take an example of Tall and Dwarf pea plants. Let the dominant allele be denoted by T and recessive allele be dominated by t.

Thus a heterozygous plant will be Tt and will be tall. A homozygous recessive plant will be tt and will be short.

A cross between these will be as follows (Tt X tt):

Short

Thus we see that the genotypic and phenotypic expectancies are equal, i.e. 1:1.

Tt : tt is 1:1 whereas tall and short ratio is also 1:1
