It is very imporatant of software design in development.The importance of this phase may be understood by reason of the fact that it involves identifying data sources, the nature and type of data that is available.I want say one example for you For example, in order to design a salary system, there is a need for using inputs, such as, attendance, leave details, additions or deductions etc.

In brief we go to definition of software design "Software design is the process of defining the architecture, components, modules, interfaces, and data for a system to satisfy specified requirements".Systems design could be seen as the application of systems theory to product development.

In simple terms we can observe it as a Software design is the process of implementing software solutions to one or more sets of problems. It means it gives solutions to the problem.There are lot of stages in this but each stage has it's importance. In addition, system designing leads to ensure that the system is created in such a way that it fulfills the need of the users and keep them at ease being user-oriented.

This is why 80% of the efforts goes into the design work.Hope this answer would help you.
