Answer #1

1.) The ratio of the two number is nothing but the division form (fractional form) of both numbers

Therefore, the ratio of 175 to 400 =   175 400

Now, reducing the above ratio, we get : 175 35 400 16 80

3.)   1.725 10

For changing in standard notation, having power of 10 is negative interger means that the decimal will shift to the left for the number of power of 10.

Therefore, 1 1.725 104 1.725 0.0001725 104

==============================================================================================

5.) Here, total number of students surveyed = 1250

8.5 07 of them were left-handed.

So, the number of students were left-handed = 8.5% of 1250

\implies~\frac{8.5}{100}~*~1250

\implies~0.085~*~1250

\implies~106.25

On rounding up our answer to a whole number we get:

The number of students were left-handed = \boxed{106.25~\approx~106} students.
