Question

Can anyone tell me the meaning of the notation irr(, Q)? I also have deg(, Q)...

Can anyone tell me the meaning of the notation irr(\sqrt[3]{3}, Q)? I also have deg(\sqrt[3]{3}, Q) which I assume means the degree of the field extension (same notation as [\sqrt[3]{3} : Q]). I have never seen irr before.
