Question

Stress concentration:

Determine the maximum stress concentration of a 0.2 inch thick metal plate that is 10 inches long, 2 inches wide. The plate has a fixed support on one side and iis in axial tension with a force of 100 lbs on the other side. The plate has three holes with a diameter of 0.5 inches for each hole that are spaced 1 inch apart with the middle hole centered at 5 inches from each edge. (holes in the diagram may not look the same size but they all are)

Answer #1

5.1 Given data from problem t= Thickness of plate = 9.2 m Le length of the plate a lon w = width of the plate is 2in Arial te③ Similarly - for 3rd hole 100lb. z = 133.33 40/42 too = 12:05 (0.2) in 6 max in 2 = 2.5x133.33.b Kt= 2.5 333, 325 tbl in 2 f
