Health informaticist has a role of the administrative support, by maintaining various medical records and facilitating the usage these medical records systems for the various healthcare organization to which they may be assigned. Thus these individuals maintain health care records and facilitate its usage. Situations, where an informaticist's role would be most useful, include a patient who has gone to a hospital in a new location, then in such a case, the job of the health informaticist is to pull up the medical records, including his history using HER and inform the staff in the new health care setting.
