Based on all that you have learned, as an IT professional, explain why you would prefer to be a project manager or as Business Analyst for an IT project?

It the world of IT where the requirements can change daily if not hourly, how do you see the role changing in the next 3 years?

Are you considering joining the iiBA? Why or why not? How about just the local chapter?

Answer #1

As an IT professional and experienced person, I would prefer to become a Business Analyst over Project Manager because I believe that most important decision in the project is taken by Business Analyst(BA) and BA take the important decisions in the project. BA works more on technical side but Project manger works more on management side. He manages Business Analyst, Technical lead, Infrastructure team, Architecture team, Etc. Please note that work may vary project to project. Having a technical knowledge and being technically connected in the project is always advised.

In the world of IT where the requirements are changing daily, business Analyst will still maintain key position in the team as he is directly connected with Vendors, third parties, contractors. Any decision by him/her will impact the project. And as per the records, the person who holds key position in a project is recognized more and grows up in career.

Joining iiBA is the need of the time. Even to grow in career in IT, person needs to upgrade himself with the latest technology. In the same way, Business Analyst should keep himself upgraded in respective field. These courses would definitely hone my skills.
