Method 1: A state court exercises personal jurisdiction when a plaintiff files a legal action. In this way, plaintiff allows voluntarily for the court to assume personal jurisdiction.

Method 2: A court can also exercise personal jurisdiction over such property existing within its geographical dimensions. This is called In Rem Jurisdiction. However, court cannot exercise personal jurisdiction over people within its geographical premises.
