transport vesicles can move molecules between locations inside the cell, e.g., proteins from the rough endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus. These transport vesicles are formed when part of the membrane pinches off the endoplasmic reticulum or the Golgi complex.

Vesicles are covered by special protein which decides its fate. These proteins are of three types-

clathrin - are found on vesicles trafficking between the Golgi and plasma membrane, the Golgi and endosomes and the plasma membrane and endosomes.

COPI - transport from the Golgi to the endoplasmic reticulum hence retrograde transfer.

COPII- Transport from the  ER to the Golgi or anterograde transport.
