Having gone through several in job interviews, you now have two choices: You may join company A – a strong brand with a high market share, or company B – a relatively young start-up with a market share of below 1%. Company A – a strong brand with a high market share

Joining Company A has its advantages and disadvantages as follows:

Advantages of joining a strong brand are as follows:

· Job stability: The Stability of the job is higher as compared to a start-up company.

· Higher perks: The big companies have higher perks to motivate the employees of the organization.

· Work-Life Balance: Strong brands and big companies have standard fixed work timings and the rest of the time can be spent on personal life.

· Low risk in pandemic times: in these pandemic times the strong brands are giving salaries to their employees even having less work pressure.

· Learning the art of politics with a big team: Big companies give exposure to learning the art of office politics due to engagement with a large number of employees.

Disadvantages of joining a strong brand are as follows:

· Less room for innovation and new ideas: process-based companies have less scope of implementation of new ideas.

· Less challenging job: the jobs at strong brands include less learning due to standard operating procedures driving the work.

· Monotonous job profiles: the job profiles at big companies have fixed job profiles there is no scope of exploring out of the standard job to be done.

Salary Scheme of Strong brands includes the following components:

· Higher Basic salary than the other small companies.

· Less amount of incentive: because of less growth margin for every employee and having set job profiles.

· Fewer variables in the salary package.

· Allowances are higher: for example Transport allowances.

Other Benefits like:

· Overtime pay is provided

· Christmas bonus is provided

· Maternity/Paternity leaves

· Break-up Leaves

Company A has such a salary structure because of its standard job profiles and less scope for new ideas. They do not have to give high incentives to their employees. Moreover, their high-profit margins and strong cliental allows them to give bonuses and other kinds of leaves to their employees to maintain work-life balance and a happy work environment.

Company B – a relatively young start-up with a market share of below 1%

Joining Company B has its advantages and disadvantages as follows:

Advantages of joining a start-up are as follows:

· More exposure in the profile than the job description.

· Higher progress rate to be part of top management

· Greater recognition for accomplishments.

· Shaping your career as a beginner

Becoming part of Company Strategies and developing a culture for the company.

Disadvantages of joining a start-up are as follows:

· Less salary

· Job insecurity

· Unstructured environment

· Job risk at the time of pandemics

Salary scheme includes the following components:

· Basic salary is average or less.

· Incentives are higher than the big brand companies.

· Bonus is higher.

· Fewer allowances.

Company B as a start-up company has a higher growth rate and scope of earning through incentives to increase the sales of the business and make the company a big brand. Therefore, the salary scheme of the company is more based on incentives than any other component.

Preference between Company A and Company B:

Everyone has preferences based on the career objectives and the personal lives of people. Different people have different mindsets, career goals and different choices to work with the kind of companies.

However, being a beginner one should opt to work with a start-up company as the exposure of versatile job profile is higher and the opportunity to give new ideas for the growth of the business enhances the skills of the learning professional. Moreover, to achieve targets and earn high incentives the job always keeps a person motivating and over the toes towards learning.

Moreover, In the present case scenario when a person has moved to a different city that person should opt for a strong brand for job stability and a higher salary.
