Use Case
A) Search the Web to find four
(4) examples of Use Cases.
MUST Include the url for each
as reference.
B) Explain their differences and their
similarities.
C) If you were the analyst, which would you prefer
and why?
A use case is a series of steps which is used to define metholdology which can be utilized in system analaysis to identify, clarify as well as to organize system requirements. It usually consists of classes and interfaces which are used to make up larger elements. A use case is a textual requirement specification which is used to derive a use case diagram.
1. Use Case Name: Login
The first use case I have found from the below link.
https://www.softwaretestinghelp.com/use-case-testing/
The main objective of this use case is to provide the overview of
how login module needs to be built, how users would be connected
and also it specifies set of constraints, pre-conditions as well as
post-conditions.
2. Use Case Name : Place an order
http://tynerblain.com/blog/2007/04/09/sample-use-case-example/
This use case contains a series of steps used to place an order. It clearly specifies what are the normal flows, alternative flows, triggering conditions.
3. User Case Name : Show Student Marks
https://www.softwaretestinghelp.com/use-case-testing/
The main objection of this use case is to show the concise textual
use case requirements for the module 'Show Student Marks'. It also
contains a series of test cases which would be used for testing.
The information is represented in a concise way.
4. Use Case Name : Buyer Places a Bid
http://www.gatherspace.com/static/use_case_example.html
The main objective of this is to provide an overview of how a buyer places a bid.
B) Explain their differences and their similarities.
The similarities were given below
-> All the use cases explain what it does.
-> The main functionality is being specified.
-> The project is represented in the modules.
-> From the use case the use case diagrams were derived.
The differences were given below
-> The way in which information is being represented was
different.
-> Some use case had alternative workflow whereas some
don't.
-> Some use case provides a very detailed explanation whereas
some use cases were consice enough than being lengthy
C) If you were the analyst, which would you prefer and
why?
The analyst is the one who performs detailed analysis for the
gathering and validating requirements. Analysts are not directly
involved in the development of a product. If I were an analyst, I
would prefer 3rd use case. Even though, 2nd use case was much
detailed I would prefer 3rd one. The reasons are:
-> The main objective of use case is to gather and validate
requirements. We already have a Requirement Specification Document
but we utilize usecases to understand the module better. This
usecase has defined its purpose.
-> Usecase was concise enough and it was't lengthy.
-> Provides a systematic way of data representation which would
be easy to understand.
-> Avoids ambuigity since the information was concise and not
lengthy.
