Many of the Republican policies such as imposing trade barriers, anti-immigration policies, anti-globalization policies, etc. are harmful to the USA economy in the long-run; however, they sound beneficial to the unsuspecting voters with little education. For example, President Trump supports reducing imports from China to save jobs in the USA. For less educated whites this sounds a very beneficial policy because they are unable to analyze it further to evaluate the policy using economic concepts.
