Steps associated with knee jerk reflex arc:

It has five steps

1) If there is any tap on the tendon attached to kneecap known as patellar tendon it is sensed by stretch receptor s in the muscle.

2)Muscle spindle produce a pattern of nerve impulse which is conveyed along nerve fibre, and to the cell body in dorsal root ganglion and terminates on motor neuron .

3)Nerve terminal release neurotransmitters into motor neuron , which generates excitatory , postsynaptic potentials in motor neurons dendrites and cell bodies.

4) action potentials is generated by motor neuron which releases acetylcholine from its terminal on muscles.

5) In the last step muscle respond to acetylcholine by depolarizing and contracting.
