why is invertase enzyme got invert on its name? does it affect the specific rotation?
Sucrose dissociates into Glucose and Fructose, by the action of Enzyme Invertase . Sucrose(+66.37) is a Dextrorotatory compound. But Fructose(-92) is a Laevorotatory compound. Although Glucose(+52.7)is a Dextrorotatory compound, the mixture of glucose and fructose is a Laevorotatory one because the angle of rotation of Fructose is more than that of Glucose.
Sucrose, a Dextrorotatory compound, changes into a Laevorotatory mixture of Glucose and Fructose. Hence, it is called Invert Sugar.
Invertase enzyme invert the specific rotation of sucrose Dextrorotatary to leavorotatory that's why it is called invert sugar.

why is invertase enzyme got invert on its name? does it affect the specific rotation?
Invertase (sucrase is the other name) is the enzyme hydrolyzing sucrose into glucose and fructose. (a) Describe how you can measure the rate of the reaction catalyzed by invertase by change in optical rotation of the reaction solution. Provide the formula for calculation of the rate (in uM/min) from the change of optical rotation that your high-school educated laboratory technician can use. (b) Can you guess why the enzyme gets the name invertase? The specific rotation (see #1 for definition)...
Biochemistry: Why does gluconeogenesis bypass hexokinase (the first enzyme of glycolysis)? Specific reason please.
a. In this equation for specific rotation of a solution: a is the observed rotation in degrees, is the path length in decimetres, c is the concentration in g mL-1, Tis the temperature at which the measurement was taken in °C, and A is the wavelength in nanometres. You used variable path lengths for the polarised light (589 nm) to pass through, and you obtained the fol solutions (A, B, C, D and E) at variable concentrations. observed rotation data...
