The features of the process of contingency planning for emergencies crises disasters are discussed below-
1. Every person in the organization needs to adopt himself to the circumstances, which allows him to use the management policies and procedures in order to respond to the the environment.
2. The main feature of contingency planning is that it allows an organization to return to the daily operations as quickly as possible after an unforeseen event which has cost loss for the organization.
3. The contingency plan is devised for an outcome other than the expected plan and define the guidelines in order to deal with it.
4. It has an backup plan, when things go differently than expected and therefore the the backup plan must immediately be actionable.
5. Contingency planning has a predefined reserve which is calculated for the current and future projects.It is generally between 3% to 5% of the total project budget.
6. It represents the the independent variable "if" and the defendant management variable "then", which is to be adopted in a contingent situation.
