For Physical Chemistry:

Greetings, I need urgent help with Physical Chemistry 1. I am using a book called Physical Chemistry by Levine. The author explains through integrals and derivatives. I am a bit lost, because I do not go very well in class, and I can not find videos that can explain me that way. The book has a chapter of The First Law of Thermodynamics and covers topics such as: pressure-volume work, enthalpy, heat capacities, the first law and ideal gases, joule and joule thompson experiments. I need you to write me a review that can help me understand and can perform exercises on the chapter. Thank you

First of all, do not panic, this is the common things occur when you learn thermodynamics for the first time.See for understanding thermodynamics you have to understand the basic mathematical part. For that please learn the partial derivative concept and Euler's theorem for this you can take help of your mathematics teacher.Once you understand this then it will be easy for you to understand the first law of thermodynamics especially state and path function also the condition to say particular thermodynamic parameter. After that learn the theory part and try to solve very simple questions based on that theory since physical chemistry is like maths you cannot remember unless and until you solve the numerical based on theory.Once you solve easy and moderate type question this will give you some confidence which will boost up your confidence level. After that go for advanced problems. In case of joule Thompson, the part concept of a partial derivative is very important as once you learn then it will be child's play for you (rest is nothing but when you will cooling or heating that you can understand by looking into expression).Do like I said, suppose you have any doubts on this then comment below..we(Chegg community) will help you out
