Answer #1

The interior of an eukaryotic cell is composed of many membrane bound organelles. Each of the membrane-bound organelle has a distinct structure and function. But some of these organelles function in a coordinated manner and constitute an endomembrane system. The organelles included in this system are;

Endoplasmic reticulum

SER- is free of ribosomes, and is specialised in the synthesis of lipids and steroids. RER- it bears ribosomes on its surface, which are sites of protein synthesis.

Golgi complex

it's important function is to process, package and transport the materials for secretions. It is also the important site for the formation of glycoproteins and glycolipids.

Lysosomes

they are rich in hydrolytic enzymes and involved in intracellular digestion and removal of waste materials such as leftover food, worn-out organelles etc.

Vacuoles

these are membrane bound sacs, which serve as storage spaces in a cell.

Thus, in whole, all the cellular components of the endomembrane system work together to modify, package, tag and transport lipids and proteins.
