Thus, language is also used to transmit values, laws, and cultural norms, including taboos. Language, since it expresses and reinforces culture, influences the personal identity of those living within the culture and creates boundaries of behavior. Language is intrinsic to the expression of culture. As a means of communicating values, beliefs and customs, it has an important social function and fosters feelings of group identity and solidarity. It is the means by which culture and its traditions and shared values may be conveyed and preserved.
First, cultures are created through communication; that is, communication is the means of human interaction through which cultural characteristics whether customs, roles, rules, rituals, laws, or other patterns are created and shared. They are inseparable because language encodes culture and provides the means through which culture is shared and passed from one generation to the next. Anthropologists must have skills in linguistics so they can learn the languages and cultures of the people they study. Culture is uncovered to have highlights that direct various practices in various settings. Individuals modify their discourse to the setting, they can utilize various registers to accomplish fruitful correspondence. Sociolinguistics causes us to decide designs in language change, how culture communicates trough discourse.
Vygotsky's theory suggests that, although children are born with the skills for language development, development is affected and shaped by cultural and social experiences. The culture in which a person develops will have its own values, beliefs and tools of intellectual adaptation.
