TRUE - Dialysis membrane is like cell membrane
Dialysis is a process of purifying blood when the kidneys are not functional and in dialysis the blood is allowed to pass through a semipermeable membrane that is similar to cell membrane, the foreign components and also waste products in blood are separated through their size. The dialysis membrane has numerous pores in that of different sizes that only allow the particles of small size while not allowing the components of blood and plasma. Like wise the blood is purified from the toxicants. In such a way dialysis membrane carry out diffusion and osmosis as like the normal cell membrane does. Like the cell membrane the dialysis membrane has pores in it, also the dialysis membrane is selectively permeable membrane.
QUESTION 8 Dialysis membrane is like a cell membrane. O True O False
1) Imagine that a simulated cell is made using dialysis tubing as the membrane and water mixed with glucose, salt, and protein as the cytosol. Imagine that this 16 gram cell is placed in a beaker of distilled water for 1 hour. After 1 hour the cell has gained 3 grams of weight. The beaker solution tests positive for glucose and salt, but tests negative for protein. Which of the following CANNOT be correctly concluded? a. Glucose and salt diffused...

Suppose you made a "baggie" out of dialysis tubing (a material that mimics a cell membrane), filled the baggie with 25% salt water, and then submerged the baggie in a beaker of DI water. Over time, would you expect the baggie to gain weight or lose weight (CHOOSE ONE)? WHY do you think this (your answer) will happen?
