#18 - Class II MOD amalgam/composite restoration.

#17 - Class II DO amalgam/composite restoration.

#16 - Class II MO amalgam  restoration/inlay.

#15 - Endodontically treated tooth with Post and core - ceramic/zirconia/metal crown restoration.

#48 - Class I amalgam/composite restoration.

#47 - Class II MO amalgam restoration/inlay.

#46 - Endodontically treated tooth with ceramic/zirconia/metal post-endodontic crown.

#45 - Endodontically treated tooth with post-endodontic amalgam/composite restoration.

#24 - Class II MOD amalgam restoration.

#25 - Endodontically treated tooth with provisional restoration (e.g. Glass ionomer cement).

#26 - Metal/ceramic/zirconia crown restoration.

#27 - Class II DO amalgam restoration.

#35 - Class I occlusal pit composite restoration.

#36 - Class II MOD composite restoration.

The amalgam restoration is differentiated in the picture based on the depth of the restoration and the features of the cavity shape prepared. Because, amalgam should have a deeper cavity preparation (18,17,16,27)for the best stability and support and also there will be a proximal step in the cavity design (16,47) in case of a Class II restoration, while composite can be in any shape (48,36,27) and can be restored with a few millimeters deep cavity (48,35,37,38). In tooth 15, there is a bulky rod shaped material is placed in the root canal, which is post.Crowns are found as a whole surface covering radiopacity on the coronal region of the tooth (46,26,15).Interim restoration has less radiopacity than that of permanent meta/alloy/composite restoration(25).
