The main aim of EMR Taskforce is to create a plan for development and utilisation of electronic medical records in the state to improve the quality of patient care and to reduce medical errors. An EMR should have a representatives from physicians, pharmacist, nurse, payors, patients and consumers.

1) physicians: physician who have the access to the patient’s EMR can immediately review the patient’s medical history and the lab results that have been performed earlier and other relevant informations. Physicians can share the health regards of the patient to other health care providers inorder to give an appropriate treatment for patients. Each physicians have the visibility to patients records for more accurate reporting of clinical quality measures.

A negative experience for physicians are possible like they might have overly cautious and misinformed compliance departments.

2) Lab technicians: They can record the laboratory results of the patient in EMR and also help to decrease duplication of tests that have been already performed.

3) Pharmacist: They can provide the medication accordingly and the the medication error can be prevented. The drug interactions can easily detected using these records. A proper reporting of errors and interactions with the drug is possible.

4) Technologist: They will make sure the problem list, medication, lab results and notes are kept current always in the records. They will ensure the medical information is upto date and accurate.

Inadequate allocation of IT resources pre and post implementation and inadequate staffing levels are the negative sides seen in this representative.

5) Patients: Patient has an important role as representative in EMR. Willingness and contribution of them is a milestone. They have to give information about their health in appropriate manner, accurate and upto date.
