Assumptions of stage structured matrix model-

  • No genetic structure
  • No age structure, and no sex structure to the population
  • All individuals are reproductively active when the population census is taken
  • Resources are virtually unlimited
  • Growth is unaffected by the size of the population.

Assumptions of Leslie matrix model-

  • It classifies individual by age.
  • Fertility and survival rate remains constant
  • Life cycles of the sexes are identical
  • Dynamics of the population are determined by one sex independent of the relative abundance of the other
