what would you say are the top three most important social factors that contribute to violent death in the United States? include evidence detail and cite your research to support your evidence.
The researcher contributes social factors such as poverty, low education, and aggression, the effect of social media, family breakups, and poor social support as the main factors responsible for mortality other than the natural death.
One of the greatest factors that cause premature and violent death includes suicide and killing. The social system is such that the families are not united; in the sense, the children leave their houses legally at the age of 18. Their responsibility towards their parents reduces and parents also become less involved with their children's life. It reduces the love and affection between the parents and children. They become individualistic, even parents do not know in what condition the children are staying and children also become less bothered. Having a get together during birthdays and Christmas are the occasions the families come together.
This situation brings depression as the parent's ages and if they lose their spouse it results in loneliness and depression as they lose social contacts due to lack of mobility. The economic conditions are also responsible, once the money is spent on health, and if they are not adequately insured it becomes a double burden on them.
The loneliness, economic burden, and depression make them commit suicide.
Poverty and abused: Poverty and abused are the factors that lead to mental disorders and unnatural death. As per psychologist Dr. Nadine Burke’s ted talk poverty and low education are the cause of child abuse she called is ACES( abuse childhood experiences ) as one of the main causes the adult becomes antisocial and substance abuse.
It is a vicious circle the poverty leads to low education, and with low education, the economic condition does not stabilize, that lead a person towards anti-social activities, smoking, alcohol, and drugs that affect their mental condition, to fulfill their need they do not hesitate in killing a person. The second reason for death that is connected to unnatural and violent death is by accident. When the driver is drunk and does not follow the rule it results in accidents and death.
If we see the poverty and low education are responsible for smoking drugs and alcohol that affects the person's health, causing cancer and other deadly diseases like HIV.
The third and the most dangerous death as far as I think is the use of a gun. The numerous incidents have happened in the US where teenagers are involved in the killing of their own classmates, friends, and teachers, and the cause is aggression, discrimination, bullying leading to revenge. There are at least 30 incidents of shooting in the school/college premises that took place in 2019, resulting in injuries and death. The schools in Los Angeles and California had witnessed the killing incident where at least 12 people have died in fatal shooting attacks in Los Angeles.
If we look at these social factors these all are interlinked, a broken family, single parent leads to abuse it can be verbal or physical or both. The low education can be due to poverty. If the child does not receive proper love affection and care from their parents, the child would move away from the parents and vice versa.
This affects the mental condition of the child over and above social media, chatting, cyberbullying, discrimination leads to low confidence and more aggression, resulting in antisocial activities like killing robbing and other violent behavior, that can lead a person to jail, or the use of excessive alcohol, smoking drugs and other activities can lead a person to the hospital, with multiple diseases.
The breaking up family system leads the old age people to depression, anxiety, and spending their savings on the health issues, and loneliness leads to suicides.
Looking at a broader spectrum I think the family system has to improve instead of leaving our own parents in the care of nurses, attorneys, and hospitals, or hospice if the children can give them some loving care and affection I think they would not get depressed to think of committing suicide. Like in Japan the children are always kept under the guidance of their grandparents, it helps in two ways. The children are taught moral values and elders have an innocent company.
