Suppose you want to culture a species of bacteria in an environment without oxygen. You have 3 species to choose from: an acidophile, a thermophile, and an anaerobic bacterium. Which would you culture in the environment without oxygen and why?

Anaerobic process takes place in the absence of oxygen. Anaerobic bacteria can survive without oxygen presence. These can be unicellular or multicellular. There are three types of anaerobic bacteria – obligate, aerotolerant, and facultative anaerobes.  

Thermophile is a type of organism that survives in high temperatures. Other bacteria can’t tolerate such high temperatures. Acidophile or acidophilic organisms live in highly acidic conditions. These two are majorly found in volcanic areas and mining places.

In general, aerobic bacteria are used in microbial culturing (done in the presence of air). If anaerobic bacteria are used in culturing, certain techniques must be followed by the microbiologists.

If one wants to culture a species of bacteria in an environment, without oxygen. Anaerobic bacterium suits the best, as it suits the condition (no oxygen content).
