I think that the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn shouldn't be edited to exclude the offensive language because it gave an authentic look to how people talked and referred to African Americans at the time. I also think that censoring the book would be counterproductive because taking out the book would be doing a disservice to students being taught the story. It does contain racially insensitive phrases but this would be beneficial for students to learn how narrowminded people were to the time regarding the race of people that most saw nothing more than property. Even Huckleberry Finn had an internal debate about whether he should tell Jim's slave master was he was because although they were friend Huckleberry still viewed him as property that he was "stealing" by helping Jim become free even though he wanted to help his friend. Mark Twain wanted the people to understand how they were acting toward African Americans who were also human. He wanted to point out the injustice that was placed upon these people. The edit the book would take away how jarring it was that people referred to African Americans in sucha way that was dehumanizing because at the time African Americans were not seen as humans they were seen as property. The idea that Twain was trying to express was that they were treating these people like others and not like people that are like them because they were raised to believe that they were less than a human which was not the case.

The one point according to me that the author could have improved is only that he shouldn't have mentioned everywhere that they were treated as a less than human creature that time by the Native Americans,though this was the case but now the scenario has changed the way those African Americans are being watched is now different,we treat them as a human and they even have all the rights excelling in every field of life.So,even at that time every Native Americans were not the same only their master were this much cruel to them.Though they were being watched as a slave by others too,but every Native Americans didn't treat them the same way.
