  1. Sodium carbonate is ionic solid. It dissociate into ions on dissolving in water. Due to movement of free ions the solution become good conductor of electricity.

Methanol is covalent compound. It do not dissociate in water, so it is not good conductor of electricity.

2. Methanol and methane both are covalent compounds. Methanol has intermolecular hydrogen bonding due to this it becomes water soluble.
