a) The reaction of BB- and OCl- turned out to be strongly exothermic.

i don't really know how this would change the absorbance levels over time. Is this reaction already exotermic or is it endothermic.

The exothermic reaction of sodium hypochlorite (bleach) with sodium sulfite produces heat. The negative sign is necessary because if heat is absorbed by solution then ∆Treaction is positive and then the qreaction must be exothermic and negative.

Irradiation of chemically reactive particulate suspensions by high power, pulsed laser radiation initiates reactions/Exothermic reactions at the sites of the particles so that besides the absorbed optical energy, chemical energy is liberated. In addition to the release of chemical energy, the chemical reaction can result in gas production both of which result in an enhancement in the amplitude of the absorbance effect.
