The gas molecules also move around and collide with each other as well as with the walls of the container. These collisions generate pressure. The pressure of a gas can be measured in different units. One convenient unit of measure is called the atmosphere (atm) because it is based on atmospheric pressure. At sea level, the average pressure is 1 atm. As you get higher in altitude, the pressure steadily drops until you leave the atmosphere, where the pressure is very close to 0 atm.

1 atm = 760 mm Hg

Using Unitary method of calculation,

=> 0.700 atm = 0.700*760 mm Hg = 532 mm Hg

Part B

1 atm = 14.7 lb/ in2

Using Unitary method of calculation,

=> 1 lb/ in2 = 1/14.7 atm = 0.068 atm

=> 30 lb/ in2 = (30)*(0.068) atm = 2.04 atm

Part C

101,325 Pa = 760 torr

Using Unitary method of calculation,

=> 1 Pa = 7.5×10-3 torr

=> 4.70×108 Pa = 4.70×108 ×7.5×10-3 torr = 3.525×106 torr
