coal chemistry:

coal is a natual exhaustible energy resource. coal is formed from dead rermains of organisms hence it is also called fossil fuel. on burning in air it emits carbon di oxide into nthe atmosphere.it chiefly contains C,H, S,O and N. it is hard, black in colour . used for cooking, running engines of thermal power plants etc

coal resources:

coal consists of minerals,water and fossil. it is formed by the coalification of vegetation. it is used for power generation.,

trace element emission:

coal contains trace elements like Zn, As, Ge,Zr,Cd.Mn, Mo etc.these trace elements are removed in the proce2ss of coal coking

coal processing :

coal is processed in plant to remove dirt, ash, sulfur. this increses heating value of coal. steps involves

coal preparation:

prepare by the removal of undesirable substances from runof mine coal by seperation process. cleaning of coal is achieve2d by solid-solid seperation or solid-liquid seperation. the seperation process removeswast rocks and water ffrom mined coal. depending n tyhe extend of carboniusation coal is classified as peat, lignite, bituminous and anthracite.

coal utilization: several useful products can be directly from coal.

1.coke: it is pure form of carbon. tough , porous and black in colour. used in the manufacture of steel, extraction of metal.

2.coal tar : black, thick liquid with unpleasant smell. used in manufacturing dyes,drugs,plastics, paints ,explosivesetc. used tor metalling the roads also.

3. coal gas : it is obtained in processing coal to get coke. it is used as fuel in many industries.

coal utilization byproducts( ash fertilizers):

coal ash fertilizers can be added to soil to nourish vegetation. it increases crop yield and stabilizes soil. it may contain heavy metals like As, Cd etc. application of ash fertilizers is good for soil which are too acidy
