I
need help filling out this table for the active ingredients listed
and how they would react in all of these tests.
The options for the tests are:
For AgNO3, PbNO3 and BaCl2: white precipitate or no precipitate
For HCl, NaOH and Acetic Acid: no reaction or gas produced
For Iodine: brown solution, clear solution or blue-black solution
And for the flame test: no colour, purple flame, green flame, yellow-orange flame, or white flame
Thanks!
I asked this same question before and got this answer, and every column incorrect just to help narrow the solution down.
1. AgNO3
Silver nitrate when reacts with soluble carbonates like NaHCO3 and CaCO3 gives white precipapte . It also reacts with acetylsalicylic acid, MgSO4 and NaOH to form a precipitate. They don't give precipitate with cornstarch.
2. PbNO3
Lead nitrate when reacts with soluble carbonates like NaHCO3 and CaCO3 gives white precipapte . It also reacts with acetylsalicylic acid, MgSO4 and NaOH to form a precipitate. They don't give precipitate with cornstarch.
3. BaCl2
Barium Chloride when reacts with soluble carbonates like NaHCO3 and CaCO3 gives white precipapte . It also reacts with MgSO4 and NaOH to form a precipitate. They don't give precipitate with cornstarch and acetylsalicylic acid.
4. HCl
HCl reacts with all other reactants to produce gas except with NaOH. HCl do not react with cornstarch.
5. NaOH
NaOH reacts only with corn starch to produce gas.
6. Acetic Acid
Acetic acid do not produce gas with NaOH and acetyl salicylic acid.
7. Iodine gives blue black solution with cornstarch and NaHC03. Iodine gives a clear solution with all the other reactants.
8.On flame test, acetyl salicylic acid gives yellow-orange flame with CaCO3, acetyl salicylic acid,NaOH & NaHCO3. It gives no flame with cornstarch.

Group I, the Chloride Group BACKGROUND The precipitating reagent for the chloride group is chloride ion in an acidic solution. Only three of the 18 metal ions form a precipitate with this reagent: silver ion (Ag'), mercury(I)ion (Hg). and lead ion (Pb). Since lead chloride is somewhat soluble, it is not completely precipitated here, and a low concentration of...

EXPERIMENT7 PREPARATION OF PHARMACEUTICALS Fischer Esterification Reactions Almost 2500 years ago, physicians such as Hippocrates recommended that patients chew on the bark of the willow to alleviate pain. The active ingredient in willow bark was found to be salicin, a compound made of a molecule of salicyl alcohol bonded to a p-D-glucose molecule. In the stomach, the bond between...
