Question 2

The role of the Cas9 ( CRISPR  associated protein 9)in the bacterial cell would be to provide defense of some bacteria against the viruses that attack bacterial cells. The function of the protein is to act as molecular scissor that cut the DNA at specific place. Therefore, Cas9 is an endonuclease enzyme that cut the interior side of the DNA. They provide protection to the bacteria against virus. The ability of this cas9 protein is used in gene editing system.

Question 3

Franciso Mojico is a Spanish microbiolgist. He work at the Alicante university and known for his research in gene editing technique by CRISPR. He is the first scientist to discover CRISPR (Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) in the Spanish salt marshes. The bacteria that were present in the salt marshes have specific repeated sequence of DNA with regular spaces in between them. These repeating structure are known as CRISPR. These sequences are further used as gene editing tool in many biotechnology application.
