Answer #1

Answer no 2. - if chromosome no is 6(2n) then in the metaphase no of chromatids will be 12 . In S phase of cell cycle chromosome no remain same while the DNA content is replicated .

    4. In mice, the Ayallele of agouti is dominant for yellow coat color but is homozygous lethal. A yellow mouse, Ay/A, that is also heterozygous for the albino allele, C/c, is crossed to an albino mouse that is also heterozygous for the Ayallele, Ay/A. c/c. What phenotypic ratios do you expect in the progeny? (True or False) a. if these genes are unlinked: 3/8 yellow, 1/8 agouti, 1/2 albino b. if these genes are unlinked: 1/3 yellow, 1/6 agouti, 1/2...

I answered part a, not sure if its correct tho. I need someone to look it over and tell me if it's correct and answer part b. The agouti locus in mice has three alleles: a is recessive and confers a black coat, A is dominant to a and confers an agouti coat, and AY is dominant to both and confers a yellow coat. AY is also a recessive lethal. In addition, the independently assorting c allele is recessive (to...

    - Vi tal:ros. b The agouti gene determines coat colour in mice. Heterozygous mice have yellow coats, while homozygous dominant mice have black coats. However, having two copies of the recessive alleles is lethal. In a population of 2000 mice, 1082 mice have black coats. Calculate the frequency of each altele. Assume that tail length in mice is a quantitative trait involving two genes, each with 2 alleles. One allele at each gene contributes to long tails, the other allele at each gene does not (small tails). The genes are located on different autosomes. Mice with 0 contributing alleles have tails that are 4 cm in length; mice with tails with 4 contributing alleles are 12 cm in length. Determine the phenotypic ratio from an F2 from a true breeding parent...

Merfolk have three pairs of autosomes and one sex chromosome; males are X0 and females are XX. In merfolk the genes controlling tail fin shape and scale colour are on different autosomes. Solid tail fin (Ff) is dominant to forked tail fin (ff), and the F allele is recessive lethal. There are two alleles of the scale colour gene – CB(blue) and CR (red)– CB and CR show incomplete dominance with heterozygotes being purple. The silent trait is X-linked and...

    2. A dominant allele H reduces the number of body bristles that Drosophila flies have, giving rise to a “hairless” phenotype. In the homozygous condition, H is lethal. An independently assorting dominant allele S has no effect on bristle number except in the presence of H, in which case a single dose of S suppresses the hairless phenotype, thus restoring the "hairy" phenotype. However, S also is lethal in the homozygous (S/S) condition. What ratio of hairy to hairless flies...
