Answer #1

1 answer of a,b and c.

PS 1 is located in the outer surface of thylakoid membrane of chloroplasts and binds to reaction centre P700.

Input is sunlight of wavelength of 700nm. and plastocyanin.

Output is production of ATP and NADPH.

PS2 is is located in the inner surface of thylakoid membrane and the reaction centre is P680.

Input is sunlight of wavelength of 680nm.and H2O.

Output is O2 ,H+ and plastocyanin.

d. photosystem 2 releases protons in thylakoid lumen and takes them up from stroma. PH gradient across thylakoid membrane is formed with excess of protons inside ,which decreases PH inside.

e. ATP synthesis occurs in ATP synthase in thylakoid membranes during photosystems in electron transport chain.

ATP synthesis also occurs in mitochondria.

Question 37 (1 point) In cellular respiration, electrons are moved along a series of membrane proteins during the electron transport chain. If there was a mutation in the DNA coding for each of the proton pumps of the electron transport chain such that these proteins became non-functional, what would you predict to occur? NADH and FADH2 would have to donate their electrons directly to ATP synthase in order for ATP synthesis to occur. All electrons would have to be stripped...
