Answer #1

1. Hypothesis or question: Propose a testable hypothesis concerning the Hill reaction.

-If cobalt and chlorine has less chloroplast than spinach, then less photosynthesis will occur.

HYPOTHESIS

From: What Kind of Food contains a High Amount of Chlorophyll

A deficiency of cobalt and chlorine, in some way induces changes which result in chloroplasts with reduced Hill reaction activity per unit of chlorophyll. PREDICTION

2. Chloroplasts can be reactivated by the deficient nutrient cobalt and chlorine in vitro, it can be concluded that the lowered activities observation were not due to lack of the deficient nutrient ion in the Hill reaction.

3. If we change small amount of Ph of cobalt and chlorine there will be increased Hill reaction activity per unit of chlorophyll.

4. Among the nutrients, deficiencies of cobalt and chlorine caused impairment of activity in that decreasing order of severity.

In no case was the activity of chloroplasts from a deficient plant enhanced by the addition of the missing nutrient to the chloroplast suspension.

A comparison of the different ph with different diluting factor of chloroplasts from healthy and deficient plants.

In some deficiencies a small but significant decrease was observed in the ratio of chlorophyll a to chlorophyll b.

Chloroplasts from healthy and deficient plants were assayed over a range of limiting light intensities up to saturation, and the effect of ph on the different dilution was recorded.

In some cases, the different dilution due to deficiency was measured at 30 and 10°C with saturating light intensity.

Experiment: Equilibrium and LeChatelier's principle 1. Read and familiarize yourself with the lab. Writing a "recipe" to follow might be a good way to do this. You'll finish lab faster as well. Do not go overboard with this recipe business, it is just a way to remember what you read and digest it better than usual. 2. Read and familiarize yourself with the equilibrium Chapter of your textbook. For prelab, hand in this sheet with the answer to what's below:...

M es and Due Dates > Homework 1: Chapters 1,2,3 Homework 1: Chapt /5400 Resources Hint Ashley hypothesizes that adding coffee grounds to the soil will help the plants grow faster. She designs a controlled experiment to determine if this hypothesis is supported. She grows one group of soybean seedlings under normal conditions. She mixes three tablespoons of coffee grounds into the soil of the second group and grows the seedlings under the same light, temperature, and watering regimen. After...

Observation: A sewage treatment plant was built a few years ago near your favorite beach. While exploring the beach one day close to the treatment plant, you do not see any sand crabs, worms, or clams buried in the sand there. After walking a quarter of a mile down the beach, though, you find abundant sand crabs, worms, clams, and other beach animals. This gets you thinking...
