I have a question in Biology I heard that you can make a child with yourself they take one of your cells and they transform it into spermatozoid and they take another cell of your body and they transform it to the ovum and they merge them artificially. My question is can the newborn will have the same DNA with you or not?

Answer:-

A somatic cell i.e non reproductive cell can be used to produce spematozoa or eggs .which further can be fertilised to from zygote (in vitro).

For this experiment mainly skin cells have been in a use.

Due to ethical issues ,this experiment is not performed on humans.

Resultant baby is called unibaby.

Here, even though somatic cells are from same individuals but resultant baby will not have the same DNA .

Because here somatic cell is induced with genes that transform it to pleuripotent stem cell having capability to produce eggs or sperm .

Pleuripotent stem cells are diploid ,it cannot undergoes fertilization therefore it has to undergoes meiosis in order to produce cells with half chromosomes i.e eggs or sperms.Only eggs and sperms cell have capabilities to undergoes fertilization.Since meiosis involves crossing over or exchange of genetic material between homologous chromosomes ,it will leads to variations in DNA of unibay from parents DNA.
