Answer #1

D. The upright posture and enlarged brain of humans evolved separartely.

Bipedalism evolved to overcome the considerable anatomical and functional threshold from quadrupedalism. Upright posture was continuing to the most advanced evolution. But the brain size increased to 4500cc upto Neandrethal then it decreased to present man 1400cc. hence upright posture and enlarged brain of humans evolved separately.

What is the most correct scientific view of human evolution? Humans came into existence suddenly in the past few thousand years and do not share evolutionary history with other animals. Humans are the last in a series of individual hominin species in a unbroken chain that has no side branches, only direct ancestors. In other words, all ancient hominin species eventually evolved into modern Homo sapiens. O Humans are only one twig in a phylogenetic tree of hominin species, all...

Which of the following statements BEST describes the importance of meiosis in human evolution? Crossing over creates novel genetic sequences that can be passed to the next generation. Meiosis produces cells that contain varied and heritable DNA so that humans have variation (that ultimately allows us to adapt to changing environments). Mutation shuffles variation during meiosis ensuring that the new daughter cells are not identical to the parent cells. All of the above.

Until recently, there were two competing theories about the origin of our species- "modern Homo sapiens". The first (single African origin) is that all modern humans descended from a recent ancestor in Africa, less than 200,000 years ago, and that our ancestors replaced the archaic human species they found in their migrations, including Neanderthals and Denisovans. (In the last few years evidence from nuclear genomes of fossil humans has indicated that there was limited interbreeding between the ancestors of modern...
