A CLABSI is a serious infection that occurs when microbes enter the bloodstream through a central line or central venous access device.It is a long,thin,flexible tube used to give medicines,fluuids,nutrients or blood products over a long period of time,usually several weeks or more.These infections are serious but can often be successfully treated.Health care workers,patients and familes can play an active role in CLABSI preventon.
